Driver-Tax.co.uk is an independent web tool providing free tax estimation services for UK self-employed drivers. We are not affiliated with HMRC, the UK Government, or any financial institution.

2. What Data We Collect
2.1 Calculator Data — Processed Locally on Your Device
Important: All figures you enter into our Tax & Mileage Calculator (gross earnings, mileage, expenses) are processed entirely within your browser using client-side JavaScript. This data is never transmitted to our servers, never stored in a database, and never shared with any third party. When you close or refresh the page, the data is permanently gone. We do not and cannot see what you enter into the calculator.
2.2 Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary cookies: Essential for the website to function. These cannot be disabled. They include session-level browser cookies that do not store personal data.
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics): We may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate visitor behaviour (pages visited, time on site, device type). This data is anonymised and does not identify you personally. You can opt out via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Advertising cookies (Google AdSense): Our site displays advertisements provided by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our site or other websites. These are third-party cookies controlled by Google. You can manage your ad personalisation preferences at adssettings.google.com.
2.3 Server Logs
Like all websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard server log data including your IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. This data is used solely for security monitoring and is retained for no more than 30 days.

- To serve and improve the website and calculator tool
- To serve relevant, personalised, or contextual advertisements via Google AdSense
- To analyse anonymous aggregate traffic patterns to improve our content

5. Third-Party Services
Our website uses the following third-party services that may process data:
- Google AdSense — Advertising platform. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Analytics — Website analytics. Google processes data in accordance with its privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — Font delivery via Google's CDN. Google may log font requests. We use the
display=swapparameter to minimise latency. - Vercel / Netlify — Hosting provider. May process server log data as described in Section 2.3.
6. Data Retention
We retain data only for as long as necessary:
- Server logs: 30 days maximum
- Analytics data: 26 months (Google Analytics default, anonymised)
- Calculator inputs: Never stored — data is ephemeral in your browser only
7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — to obtain a copy of personal data we hold about you
- Right to rectification — to correct inaccurate personal data
- Right to erasure — to request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to restrict processing — to limit how we use your data
- Right to data portability — to receive data in a machine-readable format
- Right to object — to object to processing based on legitimate interests
- Rights related to automated decision-making — we do not carry out automated decision-making with legal effects

8. Children's Privacy
Driver-Tax.co.uk is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.
